Camping for Divas in Michigan?
Hello world of yahooanswers!
So let me preface this question with the fact that I was a girl scout for years and I loved camping. Tents, no electricity, no running water, etc. Now I live in the Ann Arbor Area and some of my friends would like to make the most and have a little vacation before the summer ends. We’ve decided on camping. However, we’re also meeting up with friends from Grand Rapids for a total of 8 people. And some of them are divas. Now even though I don’t consider this to be camping does anyone know of a site in the Lansing area (we’re trying to ideally meet half way with the Grand Rapids group) that would have cabins?? None of us have an RV and we certainly aren’t interested in renting. We could rent one or two (preferably one that would fit the eight of us). And definite benefits would be things like running water, electricity, and air conditioning. Nothing too fancy. Any suggestions or reviews? I’ve been looking at search engines which haven’t been too helpful.

Pretty late in the game to be expecting to find any rentals for August in Michigan — or anywhere, for that matter. Record numbers of people are being thrifty and doing local camping and cabin trips this year due to the economic situation and August is the busiest month for that sort of thing. Most if not all vacation accommodations are going to be booked up by now. You really need to plan something like this at least 4 to 6 months in advance, better yet a year in advance for popular areas. I lived in Grand Rapids for 8 years and ran into this situation continually when friends and relatives from out of state would contact me for help finding vacation rentals. My experience was that if you didn’t lock in a reservation by early May, you might as well forget about it.

Try this to see if there are any open spots in state campgrounds. Most cabins, yurts and other structures are pretty much locked up early in the season, though.

Why am I acting more and more like a beaver each day?
I was recently attacked a bitten by a large beaver-like creature while camping in northern Michigan last year. Since then, I have been exhibiting some disturbing beaver-like characteristics. Just this morning, I built a small dam in my bathtub. Is this a new condition to the medical world or can I find more information about this? Thanks

If you built the dam large enough to live underneath and call it a lodge, you might have a problem there.

How badly will a suspension hurt my chances of getting into the University of Michigan?
I will be applying to the College of Engineering. I am currently a Junior.
I have Alumni family including my mother, father, grandfather, and my sister who currently attends the school.
GPA: 3.88
Classes: AP Psych, IB Business and Org., IB English 11, attend the Kalamazoo Area Math and Science Center (who’s students make up 10% of U of M’s total class) and take Physics, AP Bio and AP Calculus AB. Last year I took Honors Biology, Honors Earth Science, Honors English 10, Ancient World History, Honors Economics, Honors Government, French III, European History, and Functions, Statistics, and Trigonometry.
Summer camps: Attended the University of Michigan‘s 4-week long Debate Classic camp, and the Michigan Math and Science Scholars Program for an additional 4-weeks, also at U of M.
Extracurriculars: Part of the Debate team, received several trophies, made quarterfinals in state. Part of the Wind Ensemble (honors band) and played at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Have done many hours of community service including replacing windows in impoverished persons homes, and am currently a member of the Philosophy club.
Test Scores: ACT score 31, SAT 630 reading 610 math 600 writing, essay score of 10 out of 12. Still waiting on PSAT scores.
AP tests: Have taken MacroEcon and received a 4, will take psych, bio, calc ab, and possibly government.
What I did was I hacked the school network and retrieved an administrator password. Was suspended for 5 days. Afterwards, I showed them how to patch up the hole, and have offered the IT department to help in order to make up.

Unfortunately, the only way to get in after this offense is to try to schmooze the Principal or Dean of your HS to not indicate that this incident even happened. Maybe work after school, cleaning-assistant coaching, whatever work for free for the incident to be “erased.” The reason being is, most universities (and I know this is true for Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Rutgers- any hard to get in schools) have the rule that if you did something in school that would be considered a crime outside of school, it is an automatic “non-admittance” So try your hardest, write letters to the school board, show you have no history of any bad behavior prior, fight that everyone is entitled to one stupid mistake, and kiss butt, big time.

They are tons of fun, I did a couple before, now if your just going for a day camp or weekend camp its not worth the flight but if you are doing a resident camp then it will be a blast. All the camps are fun but only the resident camps are worth traveling that far for.

UPDATE On the Jeff Burton / AT&T / sponsor deal for this weekend.?
AT&T officials are investigating their options and are unsure what the Richard Childress Racing #31 Chevy for Jeff Burton will look like this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. “We’re looking at a variety of options – we haven’t really settled on which ones we’ll pursue at this point, both on a legal front and a non-legal front,” AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel said Tuesday morning. “One of the things we’re looking at is exactly what the car will look like this weekend. We’re considering our options, and we haven’t reached a decision yet.”
I wonder what will happen?
You know RCR has a few other sponsors that might could step up and sponsor Jeff Burton for the remainder of the season. I just wish they would make a decision soon, I hate my driver is having to go through with with his team and RCR and even AT&T.
